What is BIPV?
BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics) refers to a building integrated with a solar power generation system.
Traditional building-type solar power involves installing solar power plants on rooftops or rooftops, whereas the BIPV method involves installing panels on the exterior walls of buildings.
Background of BIPV Development in Korea
Unlike other countries like China and the United States, Korea faces difficulties in securing large sites, making it difficult to install large-capacity power plants.
Additionally, installing on forest land has raised serious concerns about forest damage.
BIPV utilizes existing building walls to enable efficient use of space without environmental damage, and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy actively encourages ‘zero energy’ projects, such as providing 20 billion KRW in support for next-generation technology development in building-integrated solar cells (BIPV).
SolarLight’s BIPV Technology
01Dual Safety Structure (DSS) with enhanced safety
A dual safety structure that uses a composite sliding method instead of the conventional frame cross-sectional structure.
Enhances safety compared to conventional BIPV and improves wind pressure resistance against wind pressure
02Tempered Glass Mounting Design
In addition to the dual-safety frame structure, tempered glass is installed on the front of the solar cells, making it highly resistant to external shocks and safe for installation on the exterior walls of high-rise buildings and schools.
03Application of individual inverters with MPPT control method
Previously, a single large-capacity inverter matching solar power capacity was used, but SolarLight’s BIPV is designed to maximize power generation efficiency by applying individual MPPT inverters to each solar cell, enabling individual power generation and maximizing power generation efficiency.
04AI-Based Energy Management System
By applying individual MPPT inverters and enabling individual monitoring and control, the AI-based energy management system Enerbot maximizes energy efficiency.
